April 2024 WEC Ohio

Updated: Apr 18

The Bellhaus Equestrian team had a great first show of the year at WEC Ohio!

Gillian and her horse dealer dusted off their boots after 7 months of not showing and got right back into the swing of things! They competed in the highly competitive WEC 3’ hunter division with 50 riders to a 6th and an 8th, the junior amateur derby with a 10th place finish, 15&U 3’3 Junior hunters to reserve champion and 3rd in the combined classic. We are very proud of their step into the DIY world as she did all the riding on Dealer the past 7 months, created and executed their prep at the horse show, and did all her own grooming.

Claire and her new horse Lopey jumped right into gear competing this week in the 1.00 jumpers to get to know each other! Lopey landed in the states just one month ago and has been a star ever since. They put in some great rounds and earned ribbons each day including a 5th in the amateur classic. We are so excited to see where this partnership goes!

Max and Bella put in solid rounds each day and ended the week 5th in the Ariat Medal and 1st in the 3’3 Adult Jump Seat Medal, their first time competing in that class!

Amanda and Trevor competed in the 1.35 Welcome and 1.30 Futures Prix with a warmup in the 1.20. They put together some lovely trips and are working hard to move into the 1.40s this summer.

Big thank you to Nick Novak for training on Wednesday, Michelle Lyons for training Thursday through Sunday and helping us out with chores, and to Caitlyn Shiels back home providing us guidance throughout the week.
